Just like the Kaiser Wilhelm II shaft, the Ottiliae-Schacht continued to generate electricity until 1980.

 The filigree winding tower from 1876, constructed in the Königliche Zentralschmiede (Royal Central Forge) Clausthal, is the oldest preserved iron winding tower in Europe. Next to the shaft hall, the machine house has been preserved, in which the electric winding machine is not only demonstrated in operation during guided tours, but visitors can even try their hand at winding machines.
