You’ll find the village on a sunny high plateau in the Upper Harz. The healthy climate, the varied landscape, the glistening ponds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘’ and numerous hiking trails make Hahnenklee a hiker’s paradise. The certified premium hiking trail, the Liebesbank Trail, is a highlight amongst the walking routes. Along its 7-kilometre length, 25 individually designed wooden benches accompany you, depicting scenes from love and married life. The trail starts at the unique Hahnenklee , which was built in the Nordic style and constructed in 1907–1908 without a single nail. Regular concerts are held in the Stave Church during the summer months. If you’re out and about on a mountain bike, you can set off from Hahnenklee on various routes in the . The Hahnenklee is situated on the Bocksberg. There are downhill trails there for riders of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Various attractions await you at the . These include, for example, two and the . During the winter months, Hahnenklee becomes a winter wonderland when the weather is right. On the Bocksberg, you’ll find two downhill slopes, two winter toboggan runs and a practice slope for winter sports enthusiasts. If you fancy a winter hike, there are 18 km of cleared walking trails through the snow-covered landscape. There are also three cross-country ski trails and a snowshoe trail. Hahnenklee hosts a colourful and varied programme of events all year round: witches and devils celebrate the Walpurgis Festival on 30 April. Things get wild at the HarzerBikeDays over the Corpus Christi weekend. The Harzer Dog Days in spring offer an adventure holiday with your four-legged friend. In September, the HarzerWanderWochen take place, featuring the 10-Teiche-Marathon and the hiking marathon.
