At the hiking car park of the Michaelstein Monastery begins a varied hike through the quiet pond landscapes around the monastery. Along the Klostergrund stream, the path slowly ascends into the Harz mountains. At the limestone cliff Volksmarskeller, the remains of an old hermit's cell recall the early origins of the monastery.
