"Spiritual Autumn of the Harz Monasteries—A Reformed City Walk Through Bad Gandersheim"
=======================================================================================

- City walking tour

St. Anastasius and Innocentius Collegiate Church, Bad Gandersheim

The Reformation was one of the most significant upheavals in history.

 It raged particularly fiercely in Gandersheim: The iconoclasm and the decades-long conflicts between the abbey, the town, and the Dukes of Welf bring to life here what took place in many parts of Europe. On Reformation Day, we set out to trace the footsteps of this upheaval. The walk takes us from the collegiate church with its altars—where indulgences were granted in the Middle Ages and many of which fell victim to the iconoclasts—across the market square with its remarkable half-timbered houses. Here, hidden allusions pointing to the commitment to the Reformation movement can be found and are waiting to be deciphered. Passing the Beguine House, where we’ll learn what this term means, our tour ends with a visit to St. George’s Church, which, as a church of the laity, embraced the new faith long before the collegiate church did. The tour lasts about an hour and a half.

The meeting point is the south entrance of the collegiate church.
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 20. Registration is recommended by calling 05382 955647 or
