Hikes for families

Hiking with children

“Mum, how much further? When will we finally be there?” Which parents don’t know that question? Hikes that go beyond a short walk to the playground are not easy to sell to young explorers. Still, it’s important for many parents on holiday and on day trips to spend lots of time outdoors with their children and to discover nature together.

In the Harz Mountains, the hiking network of more than 8,000 km has plenty to offer for families with children too! Entertaining themed trails with activity stations and exciting routes through varied landscapes provide a unique hiking experience with lots of fun. There’s no room for boredom here!

Beating your brother at forest memory on the Dandelion Discovery Trail in Drei-Annen-Hohne, ringing the forest xylophone on the Goslar Forest Adventure Trail, collecting 11 stamps for the Harz Hiking Pin and becoming a hiking princess or prince, splashing around on the water playground of the Liebesbank Trail in Hahnenklee, finding yourself in the labyrinth of the Myths of Nature Trail in Braunlage, looking down on the treetops from the Tree-Top Walk Harz in Bad Harzburg, taking part in a lynx feeding or exploring the Harz National Park with a real ranger – there’s so much to discover on these family-friendly hiking trails in the Harz.

  • Exercise in the fresh air
