Travelling to the Harz Mountains

The Harz region is centrally located in Germany and is easily accessible from all directions – both by road and by rail.
Several motorways lead into the region, and many towns on the edge of the Harz have railway stations with regular services.

Once there, you can use various bus routes for day trips. The Harz narrow-gauge railways run regularly and connect more than 20 towns in the Harz region.

There is an extensive network of bus routes in the mountains, almost all of which are included in the visitor’s tax. Most visitor’s cards are valid as bus tickets.

Forest donation

By donating to a reforestation project in the Harz Mountains, you can ‘kill two birds with one stone’.

Every tree planted helps offset CO2 emissions and takes us one step closer to making the Harz Forest climate-resilient.
