SIMPLY HEAVENLY!
From June to September, the monasteries of Wöltingerode, Drübeck, Michaelstein, Brunshausen and Walkenried will once again open their doors for the 18th Harz Monastic Summer. The motto for 2026 is “Simply heavenly!”
Culture and spirituality, monastic history and unique architecture make your visit to these monasteries a special summer experience: it smells, tastes and feels “Simply heavenly!”, while being monastic, simple, and truly wonderful. The heavens are incredibly diverse — whether as a place of hope for rebirth or life after death, as a metaphor for freedom and infinity, as the “home” of angels and gods, as a natural element and spectacle, or as a source of astrology. The sky as a source of inspiration for music, poetry and the arts plays a prominent role in our events. So let yourself be surprised by the combination of culture, cuisine and spirituality, and enjoy the special atmosphere within the historic monastery walls. Next summer will be “simply heavenly!”

Events during the Harz
Monastery Summer
Visit the monastery festivals and markets, take a walk through the monastery gardens, and discover the variety of medicinal plants and herbs growing there.
Under the motto “Monastery & Culture” you’ll experience how culture and cuisine come together. Listen to the concerts, join the guided tours, and feel the unique atmosphere of the historic monastery spaces.
Since the programme is constantly being expanded, it’s worth checking regularly for new event dates before summer.

The blue stamp box travels through the Harz Monastic Summer
The Blue Stamp Box moves to its winter home
The Blue Stamp Box HARZ MONASTERIES is a joint project of the Harz Monasteries department in the Harz Tourism Association e. V. and Harzer Wandernadel GmbH. During the Harz Monastery Summer from June to September, the stamp box travels from monastery to monastery on certain days and accompanies special events.
Five monasteries take part in the initiative:
Wöltingerode Monastery
Drübeck Monastery
Michaelstein Monastery
Walkenried Monastery
Brunshausen Monastery
If you didn’t manage to collect all stamps this year, you can continue your collection in 2026. Information about the journey of the Blue Stamp Box will be available from the beginning of June 2026 for the start of the 18th Harz Monastery Summer.
If you don’t want to wait that long, you can keep stamping all year round: The red boxes with the label “Harz Monastery Trail” are accessible at 15 stations at any time.
