After nearly seven years of extensive renovation, the Quedlinburg Castle Museum reopened on October 3, 2026.

In the heart of the Stiftsberg UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors can explore a modern, permanent exhibition on the region’s cultural history spanning over a thousand years—with a special focus on the influential women of the Quedlinburg Convent.

Spanning approximately 2,300 square meters—three times the previous area—more than 300 exhibits are presented in a contemporary style, some incorporating multimedia elements. A special highlight is the new Abbesses’ Gallery: On eight life-size screens, Queen Mathilde and seven other abbesses appear virtually and recount stories from their time.

For the first time, visitors can explore the Castle Museum, the collegiate church, and the cathedral treasury as part of a single, continuous tour.
