Erz, Wasser & Holz - die Elemente des Bergbaus

Walking / hiking
These are the elements of mining present everywhere in the Harz Mountains: ore, water and wood - they are staged at this seating area and invite you to take a break right by the Bode.
They shaped the entire Harz region for centuries and of course have a direct connection to Treseburg. The first smelter was documented here around 1400. Copper and iron ore were mined here in several mining phases.

Just a few meters from the rest area is the mouth of the main Treseburg vein. This is where the south-eastern section of the Braunschweig colliery ends, the closure of which in 1777 also heralded the end of the mining era in Treseburg.
