In his birthplace, the old vicarage, there is now an impressive museum. The rooms house an extensive collection of writings for visitors. Particularly noteworthy are the more than 300 different editions of the Baron Münchhausen story. These include numerous historical and international copies.

Among other things, the German poet wrote numerous socially critical works, translated them into other languages and was also an editor. He also founded the genre of the art ballad, wrote love poetry, but also politically colored poems. However, he achieved his greatest fame through the character he created, the "Baron of Lies" Münchhausen.
