The Ziegenalm is located in the quiet and forest-surrounded Harz village of Sophienhof, where ducks and geese still quack on the village pond. At the goat farm, you can convince yourself of the animal-friendly husbandry and care, the clean milk production, and the careful cheese making.
The Stierberg pond (550 m above sea level) lies between Sophienhof, Rothesütte, and Benneckenstein. Like most ponds in the Harz, this one is also not of natural origin. It was artificially created to dam the impact water for the water wheel located downstream of the pond.
This route is part of the accompanying booklet "My First Stamp Book" of the Harzer Wandernadel, which includes stroller-friendly routes.
Once you have hiked all 16 routes and filled the accompanying booklet with stamps, you can reward yourself with the special hiking pin.

Directions
The start of the hike is directly at the Ziegenalm Sophienhof. Along the village street, pass the "Brauner Hirsch" inn on the left side until you reach the forest road. Here, keep left until after about 1.4 km you continue straight on the nature trail. After about 700 meters, turn left onto the path by the Stierbergsbach and after about 400 meters keep right to the stamp point 48. After returning the same way, there is the opportunity to reward yourself with stamp 97 and the food offerings of the Ziegenalm.

A stop at the Ziegenalm Sophienhof is highly recommended.
The hike is not recommended in winter.
