With many viewpoints, this section of the route takes you from the Thuringian Basin up to the highlands of the Hainleite.

From Bad Langensalza, the route continues without major climbs through the Unstrut valley and further along the Kneipp and Kleinbahn cycle paths to Kirchheilingen. Except for the section from Thamsbrück to Großwelsbach, the path is paved and easy to ride. The moderate ascent behind Kirchheilingen leads uphill to the Heilinger Heights. The first hill (with many wind turbines) offers beautiful views of the Thuringian Basin and the Thuringian Forest. A short stretch takes you down a tank road to Blankenburg. Enjoy the wonderful view on the "Großer Horn" hill behind the town, now towards Hainleite and Harz. Along little-trafficked roads, you ride further through gently rolling terrain towards the Hainleite, which is always clearly visible. In Oberspier, the Unstrut-Werra cycle path leads you to the last steep climb to the Hainleite. At the edge of the forest, benches invite you to enjoy the magnificent panorama to the south. Via the chestnut avenue, you reach the Possen leisure park, the stage destination.
