From the Unstrut valley, you ride over the ridge of the primeval Hohe Schrecke, then back down the other side along the Unstrut to Artern.

From Artern, we follow the Unstrut Cycle Path upstream to Heldrungen, whose water castle is worth a visit. The short detour to Braunsroda is worth visiting not only because of the Bismarck manor house. Here you can also take the short detour to the suspension bridge. Just before Oberheldrungen, there is a great rest area with a magnificent view. Behind Hauteroda, the path gradually becomes steeper – you have reached the ascent to the plateau of the Hohe Schrecke. The natural beech forest characterizes the landscape up here. On the descent down into the Unstrut valley, you initially ride on tank plates, which then turn into a well-ridable gravel path. Afterwards, the model railway in Wiehe is also worth a visit. In the Unstrut valley, a beautiful rest point offers a magnificent view of the Hohe Schrecke and the Ziegelrodaer Forest. Continuing on the Unstrut Cycle Path, the stage leads back to Artern without difficulty.
