The circular hiking route takes you to the Grumbach Ponds in the "Upper Grumbach Valley" and is an interesting hike on the topic of "Upper Harz Water Management".

A must for all mining enthusiasts: Let yourself be transported back to the time of mining. The path leads over several ditches, such as the Wäsche and Schalker ditches, which used to serve water management in mining. At the end of your hike, you can view the historic water wheel in Bockswiese and relax by the idyllic pond of the spa park.

Directions

The starting point is the Stave Church in Hahnenklee. From here, you reach Bockswiese via Prof. Mohrmann Way onto the Fairy Tale Path (2E red dot). Upon arriving at Jägerstieg in Bockswiese, keep left and turn into the exit of Wiesenstraße. Now walk directly along the south slope of Bocksberg to Schalker Ditch Path (5G blue cross). When you reach the Upper Grumbach Pond, take the right path and again keep right at the end of the pond. Passing the Middle Grumbach Pond, the path "5C green triangle" leads you into the Upper Grumbach Valley, through which you pass the Lower and Upper Flötzteich before returning to Bockswiese. In Bockswiese you are on the Ditch Path, which you leave to the right via Wiesenstraße. Continue straight ahead following Wiesenstraße to Jägerstieg. Via the Fairy Tale Path (2E red dot) you return to Hahnenklee and the Stave Church.
