A small, family- and dog-friendly circular route through the lower Dammbachtal near Trautenstein.

The leisurely walking and hiking path without notable inclines leads you through the Dammbachtal near Trautenstein. Also ideal for dogs, away from streets and busy places. Your four-legged friend has plenty of room to run and frolic here. Enjoy the beautifully blooming mountain meadows and the soothing peace in spring and summer. The hike takes about 1 hour. At the end of the Dammbachtal, an ice cream parlor and a restaurant in town invite you for coffee or a snack.

Directions

The circular route starts and ends at the parking lot of the Dammbachtal café in Trautenstein. It is located at the town entrance from the direction of Benneckenstein or Tanne.
Follow the field path to the right and continue to the forest parking lot. At the fork in the path, keep left and follow the path into the lower Dammbachtal.
After about 800 m you will reach another fork. Turn left there and cross the small bridge. At the end of the path, keep left and begin the return journey to Trautenstein. There, you will walk through the sunny Dammbachtal.
Near the first house in Trautenstein, cross a bridge to the left and immediately turn left again.
The hike ends after about 200 m at the Dammbachtal café.

You can reach Trautenstein by car

- from Wernigerode via the B244, turning off at Elbingerode (B27), Königshütte (L98), Tanne (B242)

- from Braunlage via the B242

- from Nordhausen via the B4/B81, turning off at Hasselfelde (B242)

A small free parking lot is located to the right of the Dammbachtal café.
