Directions
The hike starts in the nativity village Wieda. Starting and finishing point is the Glass & Ironworks Museum in Otto-Haberlandt-Straße. Opposite the museum, the path immediately leads into Borntal, a part of the Harz mountain refuge trail. Follow this path until it merges into the eastern winter hiking trail. You stay on this trail until the Käsebergblick. On the Käseberg, the Wieda bell tower was built. Since Wieda lies in the valley and the church bells would not be heard throughout the village, the bell tower was not built directly at the church but on the opposite Käseberg. From the Käsebergblick, continue to Kreuztalsklippe, a rock formation northeast of the spa town Wieda. Here you have an equally beautiful and breathtaking view of the entire upper village of Wieda and the Käseberg. After fresh stamping (stamp 162) and possibly refreshed, the shelter invites you to a short rest, then continue downhill past the Hans-Peters Hut along Cuerskopfweg. At the junction to Schulstraße, turn right into Schulstraße. Continue along the main street Am Kreuztal back to the starting point at the glass & ironworks museum.
