Directions

For most motorcyclists, enjoyment is paramount, and the same goes for us. Therefore, we embark on a culinary journey through the Harz, experiencing numerous regional delicacies.

The start of this tour is the Hotel Waldmühle in Elend on the B27 towards Braunlage. In summer, many motorcyclists gather here to chat about bikes or simply relax. The comfortably furnished rooms with forest views offer a great place to unwind. In Elend itself, Kukki’s Pea Soup with its rest stop directly on the B27 is a regional highlight not only for motorcycle enthusiasts. The pea soup is well known beyond the Harz region and is highly popular among connoisseurs. It is freshly prepared daily and also sold in cans. From here, a short trip to Schierke is worthwhile to explore the national park, climb the Brocken, or ride the summer toboggan run Brocken Coaster. The actual culinary tour takes us through the green forests of the Harz, heading towards Elbingerode and past the Rappbode Reservoir via the B81 to the goat farm in Sophienhof. On the show farm with its idyllic café, delicious goat cheese is produced.
After a short break, we continue to Nordhausen, the southernmost point of this tour. A quick stop at the Authentic Nordhäuser Traditional Distillery is a highlight. Special spirits can be purchased for later enjoyment or as gifts. Guided tours of the distillery are also offered. Our tour continues to Bad Lauterberg. At the edge of the Harz, several "typically Harz" producers invite you to the next refreshment. The "Café and Confectionery Mangold", the "Landwohl Butchery", or the herbal half-bitter "Schierker Feuerstein", which has been known for over 100 years, are just a few examples. One can also linger on the plateau of the local mountain above Bad Lauterberg, offering visitors a breathtaking view over the Harz and the surrounding area. Refreshed, we leave the town heading for Braunlage. The route passes the Oder Reservoir, a scenic highlight of the region.

Those interested can briefly leave the tour in Braunlage for another culinary highlight and take a detour to Tanne to visit the Brockenbauer. The steakhouse and farm shop of the Brockenbauern Thielecke (Typical Harz) invites you to enjoy delicious cakes, sausages, and ham specialties. In addition, you can see the show farm and its own organic butchery. From Braunlage, the journey continues to Torfhaus. Here, on the large parking lot directly on the B4, you can chat with many other bikers who regularly meet here.
Caution is advised on the descent into Bad Harzburg; here, speed is regularly monitored with installed measuring devices. The final kilometers lead through Ilsenburg. If you still have room for a delicious dessert, be sure to finish the tour either at the Typical Harz Baumkuchen House in Wernigerode or in the city center of Wernigerode at the Café am Markt, where you can also try the excellent cakes alongside the Typical Harz fruit spreads. On market days, Tuesdays and Fridays, the Harz Fichteln are offered directly opposite as a savory snack to try. Finally, the route returns via Hasserode to Elend and the hotel.
