Take a beautiful day route by motorcycle – and discover numerous sights in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Harz.

On this motorcycle route, you will discover the entire UNESCO World Heritage site in the Harz. You will ride through beautiful nature, through steep right and left curves, uphill and downhill. The temperatures remain pleasantly cool even on hot days. That’s what makes motorcycle riding fun.

But apart from the beautiful nature, there is much more to see on the route: the Goslar Imperial Palace, Walkenried Monastery, highlights from mining times and water management at the Rammelsberg and in the Upper Harz, and much more…

The route takes at least 6 hours. For e-motorcycles, the time depends on charging times.

Directions

The motorcycle route is 155 kilometers long. The start and end point is the Osterode district of Förste. Ride out of the town on Förster Straße towards Osterrode. Then turn left onto federal road B 241. Shortly afterward, join federal road B 243 towards Herzberg. Follow B27 and B243 to the Bad Sachsa exit. Turn right immediately onto Bahnhofstraße and head to Neuhof. In Neuhof, turn left onto Harzstraße. This will take you to Walkenried.

Ride into the town center. There, turn left onto Wiedaer Straße. On this road, you will enter the Harz.

After Wieda, turn left onto country road L 600 towards Braunlage. After Brunnenbachsmühle, you will reach a roundabout. Take the third exit and join federal road B 4. The B 4 is a fast road. Take the first exit immediately to head towards Bad Lauterberg. At Oderhaus, turn right to Sankt Andreasberg.

In Sankt Andreasberg, ride out of town on Clausthaler Straße towards Bad Harzburg. However, do not go to Bad Harzburg; instead, turn left in Sonnenberg onto federal road B 242. At the next opportunity, turn onto federal road B 498 and head towards Altenau. Stay on the B 498, passing through Altenau to Goslar. There, turn diagonally left onto federal road B 241 to Goslar’s old town.

Federal road B 241 circles around the old town of Goslar. After the ramp to Rammelsberg, turn right onto federal road B 82. Stay on B 82. Attention! At the intersection before the railway underpass, you must turn left. The B 82 then becomes a fast road. On this road, continue over Astfeld to Langelsheim. Take the Langelsheim-Süd exit and leave the fast road, then immediately turn right into the beautiful Innerstelal (towards Lautenthal). This road will take you to Lautenthal and then to Wildemann.

After Wildemann, turn right onto federal road B 242. Immediately at the next exit, turn left via Clausthaler Straße to Bad Grund. Stay on the road past Windhausen.

After Windhausen, drive [through a small tunnel] under federal road B 243. Immediately behind, turn right to Gittelde and then immediately left to Eisdorf. After Eisdorf, turn left in Nienstedt and return to Förste, where the route started.

Stop in the romantically wild Okertal in Romkerhall – the 'Smallest Kingdom in the World' with its famous cream puffs.
