From Artern, you ride on the Unstrut-Werra cycle route to Mühlhausen and from there back to Artern on the Unstrut cycle route.

You ride through the Thuringian Basin on cycle paths with a road bike. Starting from Artern, the route leads through a fertile floodplain landscape to Bad Frankenhausen. From there, the route continues to Sondershausen and then moderately uphill through Hainleite. The cycle path then runs through the towns of Ebeleben, Schlotheim, and Mühlhausen. Now you ride on the Unstrut cycle path through the towns of Bad Langensalza, Herbsleben, Sömmerda, and Heldrungen, etc., back to Artern. Minor deviations from the cycle path have been adjusted due to path conditions so that you primarily ride on asphalt. However, there are some sections where you have to briefly ride over gravel or cobblestones.
