Directions
- Start the hike from the car park at the dam of the Granetalsperre near Herzog-Juliushütte / Astfeld. An exhibition by Harzwasserwerke, located in the waterworks at the dam, offers fascinating insights into the topic of water. The entire path is either paved or gravelled and has only slight inclines. Along the way, you will pass the Astfelder Hut, the Dittmarsberg spring, the Wethberg Hut, another shelter, and the stamp station
No. 110 (Granestausee) of the Harzer Wandernadel. From there, you have a great view of the Granetalsperre with the dam. A vast water landscape extends behind the 600-meter-long dam of the Granetalsperre. Up to 46.4 million cubic meters of water can be stored in the reservoir, completed in 1969, which is used by Harzwasserwerke for the drinking water supply of large parts of Lower Saxony. Directions & Parking facilities
