Right at the beginning of the day's stage, the steepest climb of 13% over the Warteberg (415 m) awaits us; some sections had to be walked. Afterwards, it went down at a 12% gradient to Steina. Steina was considered the mining area and stronghold for the processing of Harz dolomite. The path continues through the wild romantic Steinatal, past a drinking water reservoir – it is also perfect for cycling. Behind the small dam, a short, steep climb takes us to the highest point of today's bike tour (465 m), the Weser-Elbe watershed "Hohe Tür." To the next beautiful viewpoint, we roll downhill along the slopes to the Wiesenbeker Teich. Once artificially created as a splash water reservoir for the copper mine "Aufrichtigkeit" in Lauterberg, the mountain lake today attracts day-trippers and vacationers for swimming, fishing, and boating. After a lively descent, we reach Bad Lauterberg. The former mining town in the Harz is now a state-recognized Kneipp spa and Schroth cure town. Be sure to plan some time here for strolling and browsing. From the local mountain, you have a great view of the valley town of Bad Lauterberg. You can get up high after a short hike or comfortably with the castle cable car.

Continuing towards Herzberg. Here, a pictogram with a red bike and a T4 sign directs the way. In Herzberg, we move right towards Siebertal, driving above a paper factory behind the "Herkules Baumarkt" and then taking a right at a fork in the road. The path runs parallel to the four-lane federal road and along horse pastures. On Osteroder Straße, we drive to the Aschenhütte intersection and then follow the witch symbol towards Northeim via Düna to Osterode. Now the terrain gets hillier; from Hörden it goes uphill behind Düna, uphill, and downhill. The legs start to feel it, but the beautiful high plateau (300 m) makes you forget all exertions. Thus, we rush past the Söse into Osterode.
