Directions
The 12 km long footpath to the Brocken - the Heinrich Heine Trail - is considered the most romantic ascent. The hike begins at Blochhauer in the Ilsetal. (You will find parking spaces at Blochhauer or paid ones in the Ilsetal. TIP: Park free at the Harzlandhalle, the Ilsetal quickly fills up and from here it goes into the Ilsetal.) From here, follow the trail marking with the green crossbar. It continues always along the Ilse. Via the Bremer Weg, past the Heine monument and the Ilse Falls, it leads to the Bremer Hut. Then you continue to the Stempelsbuche and Hermannsklippe. Here turn left onto the Kolonnenweg and go over the Kleiner Brocken to the treeless summit of the highest mountain in northern Germany, the Brocken (1141 m). Upon reaching the Brocken, you can take a break in the restaurants on site and gain strength for the descent. This returns via the Brockenstraße, then on the Yellow Brink to the Bremer Hut. From there, it goes back over the Ilse Falls to the Ilsetal to the starting point. We wish you lots of fun!
