Directions

You want to follow the longest and most difficult route and leave the parking lot on the forest road to the right, passing the forest kindergarten, to reach a crossroads after 500m, which you leave sharply to the right on the first path towards Taternplatz. After only 100m you keep left towards Schustertal, then after another 300m turn left again. After about 1.5 km of ascent through the Ungetreustal, keep right to prepare the next ascent on a flat, slightly descending path at an altitude of about 520m for about 400m. Without leaving this path, you reach the highest point at 584m after 1200m. Further on, you reach Taternplatz. In this area, you can see very old, unique giant trees. From Taternplatz, a final ascent follows to the next crossroads. Here you keep right and follow this forest path for about 900m in the direction of Wieda/Käseberg, then turn right, descending along the east flank of the Kuckuck directly to Vogelherd. At an altitude of now 400m, you have a beautiful view over the meadows of Hasenwinkel. This crossroads is Vogelherd, where on the left there are tables and benches inviting you to rest. Now you continue straight along the forest path, passing the site of what was once the only mat ski jump in northern Germany. Further on, it goes to the viewpoint "Alte Wache," about 40m off the path to the left, with a magnificent view into the Wiedatal. Here you have a view of the Käseberg, the bell tower - the Wieda landmark - and Otto-Haberlandt-Straße with the Luther Church. Back on the forest path, it goes constantly downhill to the starting point of this Nordic walking route.
