This 9.5 km long hiking trail leads through the magnificent landscape of the Upper Harz and connects the mountain resort of Hahnenklee-Bockswiese with the UNESCO World Heritage town of Goslar. Additionally, you will learn interesting and entertaining facts about the hardworking relationship between humans and the forest.

Join us on a journey through time and discover often long-forgotten professions and activities carried out in the forest that have shaped the Harz in particular. An exciting hiking trail awaits you with numerous views amidst the Upper Harz nature, which can be walked in both directions (return by bus line 830 possible) and offers good dining options.

Directions & Parking facilities

 

If you are traveling by car from Clausthal or Goslar, take the Kreuzeck and Bockswiese turnoff to Hahnenklee. In Hahnenklee, do not follow the main road but drive straight ahead after the town entrance sign. At the end of the road, you will find the free large parking lot. In Goslar, you can park directly on the roadside at Nonnenteich.

Large parking lot at the Stave Church at the end of Bockswieser Street or on the roadside in Goslar at "Nonnenteich" Street

Use bus line 830. You can travel from Goslar at the "Nonnenteich" stop to Hahnenklee at the "Friedhof" stop. Of course, you can also travel in the opposite direction.
