It goes slightly uphill through the small Harz-typical village Neuwerk to the end of the houses. From here you hike on an idyllic footpath through a lush mixed forest to the viewpoint Krockstein. From here you have a beautiful view of the Brocken and Wurmberg, as well as the Kreutztal Viaduct of the Rübeland railway. A seating area with table and a bench invite you to linger and have a picnic.

Directions
You start the hike at the Mühlenweg parking lot in Neuwerk uphill towards the village and follow the signs to Krockstein. After approx. 800 m, the paved road ends and turns into a footpath. After crossing the mixed forest uphill for about 300 m, you reach a fork where you follow the left path. From here it goes relaxed on a natural path towards the viewpoint. After another 300 m, the branch to the viewpoint is on the left. Here you enjoy the view towards Brocken and Wurmberg as well as the Kreutztal Viaduct before you return along the same route.
Equipment
Sturdy footwear, functional clothing, backpack provisions, sun and rain protection are recommended.
Remember to pack your (mobile) camera, Harzer Wandernadel stamp booklet, and possibly binoculars.

You can reach Neuwerk by car:
- via the B27 from Braunlage and Blankenburg
- via the B244 from Wernigerode over Elbingerode continuing on the B27.
- via the B81 junction L96 from Hasselfelde
