Hike to the Wildcat Enclosure at Marienteichbaude

Just a stone's throw from Bad Harzburg, in the heart of the Harz, there is a unique wildcat enclosure at Marienteichbaude. The wildcats can be observed up close from a viewing platform. An information center with changing exhibitions by NABU also offers a direct view of the animals. The wildcats are not the only inhabitants of the enclosure. There is a second enclosure with goats, who share the greened viewing platform of the information center with the visitors. In another area, raccoons have found a home.

On foot from Bad Harzburg: From Tourist Information Bad Harzburg or large parking lot on B4 approx. 7.3 km via the Wildcat Forest Experience Trail and the Wildcat Trail to Marienteichbaude.

Our tip! Start the experience with a hike through the wildcat's habitat from Bad Harzburg.
The starting point is at the large parking lot on B4, the route is about 7.3 km long and runs via the Wildcat Forest Experience Trail and the Wildcat Trail to the wildcat enclosure at Marienteichbaude. Return is by bus (KVG line 820) hourly.

The hike is less strenuous in the opposite direction, going downhill from Marienteichbaude towards Bad Harzburg large parking lot.
