Homeland, Hiking and Nature Conservation Association
How could anyone go hiking in the Harz Mountains without an extensive network of hiking trails, signposts in the right places and a map in hand! To make sure of that, many volunteer members of the Harz Club are out and about every day.
The Harz Club e.V. was founded in 1886 in Seesen. With its 92 local branches and 14,000 members, it is represented almost throughout the Harz region. It is responsible for creating, maintaining and marking hiking trails according to uniform guidelines and taking into account areas worth protecting.
For tired hikers, the Harz Club has set up resting places along the trails, and if a rain shower catches you by surprise, shelters are ready for you. Trained local hiking guides are happy to accompany you on your hike!
Special attention is given to promoting environmental and nature conservation through practical measures such as the creation of habitats, nature protection, and landscape maintenance. The club is also involved in preserving cultural monuments and in maintaining traditions, folk music, folk dance, costumes and dialects. It promotes local history research and manages local history exhibitions, heritage rooms and museums.
Help us achieve these ambitious goals!
