Bodetal Routes

The five routes through the Bodetal valley are smaller than the Volksbank Arena Harz network, but just as varied. The valley, also known as the roughest rock gorge north of the Alps, shows its characteristic landscape with steep slopes and rocky terrain.

Along the trails, you’ll find dense forests, narrow root-strewn paths and striking viewpoints that let you truly experience the special character of this region.

  • The Grandfather at the Devil’s Wall – This tour is also suitable for sporty beginners with families.

  • Gloomy Mountains – Along the edge of the Harz to Gernrode and from there up a long climb into the Selke valley.

  • Turnips and Stone Heads – This tour is well suited for beginners.

  • Treseburg Wildstone – This tour really packs a punch. The elevation gain stays below the 1000-metre mark, but it comes in short, sometimes extremely steep climbs.

  • Zur Lauenburg - The Lauenburg castle ruin stands above Stecklenberg near Thale.
