Devils Trail Harz

Logo Devils Trail

The Devils Trail takes you through all altitudes and landscapes, through bright deciduous forests, dark coniferous woods and across eight high Harz peaks – with a short detour to the Brocken, it’s even nine.

You’ll pass reservoirs that supply northern Germany with drinking water and protect against flooding, and cross the Green Belt, which divided the Harz and all of Germany in 1989.

On the Clausthal plateau, you’ll find fragrant mountain meadows and many stone-bordered ditches and historic ponds; in Goslar, a thousand years of industrial history (together a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Rammelsberg, the old town of Goslar, and the Upper Harz Water Management System).

Along the way, you’ll sometimes meet many other people – and then suddenly you’ll be completely by yourself again, enjoying the silence of the forests, the wide views, and the freedom of the trail.
