Romanesque Road

The Romanesque Road stretches over a total length of more than 1,000 kilometres through Saxony-Anhalt.

The route is laid out in the shape of a figure eight, with its intersection located in Magdeburg, dividing the road into a northern and a southern section. The Romanesque Road connects cathedrals, castles, monasteries and churches that were built between the 10th and the mid-13th century. Altogether, it passes through 73 towns featuring 88 buildings. Since its opening, the Romanesque Road – the first tourist route in the new federal states – has developed into one of Germany’s most important tourist routes with international recognition. Through the teaser below, you can access the sites along the Romanesque Road that are located in the Harz region.
