The Ulrich Church in Sangerhausen is an important mosaic stone in the Romanesque landscape of the Harz Mountains.
Built in the early 12th century, the three-aisled basilica with its five apses, the oldest building in Sangerhausen, is a confession of faith and thanksgiving in stone: the Thuringian Landgrave Ludwig II, known as "der Springer", donated it as a result of a vow made in captivity.
