Barbarossa Cave
Simply fabulous! You can experience the history of the earth with all your senses and learn many interesting facts about an exciting piece of German history. Huge caverns and crystal clear, blue-green shimmering lakes with impressive reflections of the ceiling will enchant every visitor. Spectacular and unique in the world: bizarrely curved plaster flaps, reminiscent of hanging skins, grow down from the ceilings and walls. The multi-layered play of colours of white to grey rock is also impressive. It is the various grains and drawings, such as "gypsum beads", "snake gypsum" and "alabaster eyes" that give the stone a truly exotic appearance. Here in the "Tanzsaal" (dance hall) you can pay homage to the old emperor Barbarossa! Legend has it that he sits at a table of marble stone through which his red beard has grown over the centuries.
