Rittergut Cattenstedt
Built in 1717, the Cattenstedt manor house is attributed to the work of the famous Baroque master builder, Hermann Korb (1656-1735), master builder of the Duchy of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel.
In addition, the manor and the region were shaped by the creative period of the lively noble family von Kropff von Cattenstadt, which lasted almost 250 years.
The imposing baroque building with its park in front and the four-sided courtyard behind it have been privately owned since 2000. While the agricultural buildings are used as a riding stables, the manor house is still waiting to be used. Until then, the owner and a support association use the premises including the park for exhibitions, concerts, theater performances and to present the history of the former noble residence at the entrance to the northern Harz, which dates back to the 10th century.
After making an appointment for a tour by telephone, visitors receive a personal tour from the owner family and learn, among other things, why the manor house stands so close to the road, what the "White Lady" is up to and what the "Old Fritz" has to do with Cattenstedt.
