Regional brand Typical Harz

Exceptionally regional!

The regional brand “Typisch Harz” lets you, as a consumer, recognise the special quality of products from the Harz region.

The Harz region is rich in high-quality products, culinary specialties, and traditional crafts. More and more of them are being awarded the regional brand "Typisch Harz." When awarding the label, in addition to the required criteria of each product group, the qualitative value of the product based on the principle “quality over quantity” plays a key role. The “Typisch Harz” label is awarded in nine product groups. The association area of the Harz Tourism Association is considered the regional reference area.

Are you a producer from the Harz region and want your products to become part of the Typisch Harz family? Under the section “Apply for the award” you’ll find all the information and the link to the application documents.

The producers of the Typisch Harz products can be found all over the Harz region. As direct marketers, they usually offer their products in their own local shops. Those who have a bit more space also include a selection of Typisch Harz-certified products in their range.

The Typical Harz Delicacy Box

A piece of the Harz to give away!

The Typisch Harz Delicacy Box is a special surprise for business partners, employees, as well as family and friends, available exclusively during the Advent season. The content is newly put together every year. Our long-term partner, Lebenshilfe Goslar, carefully packs the six products, all awarded with the regional brand, into a decorative presentation box in Harz design.

Every late summer, we select the products for the new Delicacy Box and then inform Harz-based companies as well as the partners of the Harz Tourism Association about the pre-order options. At the same time, we also provide the order form for end customers right here. Delivery and shipping of the boxes start at the end of November, so the Typisch Harz Delicacy Boxes will reach you in time for the Advent season.

If required and with a sufficient quantity, companies can also order the Typisch Harz Delicacy Box outside the Advent season as a customised special edition. The lead time is about four weeks. If you’re interested, we’d be very happy to receive an email with your ideas – or just give us a call on Tel. 05321 340430. We’ll be happy to advise you.

Typisch Harz - Urkundenübergabe im Kloster Wöltingerode

The Harz Tourism Association is the organisation responsible for the regional brand “Typical Harz”. Accordingly, the catchment area of the regional brand covers the association’s territory. Only businesses based and producing in the districts of Harz, Mansfeld-Südharz, Goslar, the former district of Osterode am Harz, and Nordhausen can apply for the label for individual products. The label is awarded in nine product groups, each with its own defined award criteria. The application and all necessary documents must be submitted to the Harz Tourism Association. An expert commission advises and decides on the granting of the label. It is awarded for a period of three years and must then be reapplied for.

The expert commission includes representatives of the agricultural marketing organisations of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, representatives from among the producers, tourism experts from the region, and the management of the Harz Tourism Association. At the quarterly meetings, new applications for certification and recertifications are discussed and voted on. Another area of responsibility is the further development of the regional brand.
