The Pfeil Monument (470 m above sea level) is located between Thale and Friedrichsbrunn and is a memorial for Friedrich Wilhelm Leopold Pfeil (1783 – 1853). Wilhelm Pfeil was a forestry practitioner, forest scientist, and writer. From 1830, he led the Higher Forestry School in Eberswalde and published 24 books and 700 forestry papers.

Directions

The hike starts at the car park of the animal park at Hexentanzplatz. At the start of the hike, you can plan to visit the animal park or walk directly along it. You should keep to the left and after about 1.1 km use hiking trail 32C. After about 1.8 km, you will discover the memorial and the stamp box there. There is a seating opportunity on site suitable for a picnic. After reaching the crossing on the return route after about 1.8 km, you have the option to go right back to the car park or continue straight past the animal park to the new Hexendorf and various food offerings.
