The Büchenberg ore mine is located on the road from Elbingerode to Heimburg above the Trecktal valley. It shows a colorful, unique geological exposure in Europe that allows different rock types to be seen in a very small area. A sight that captivates not only geologically interested visitors.
The Galgenberg, at 506 m above sea level, is the highest elevation of a limestone cliff range located east of Elbingerode.
This route is part of the booklet "My First Stamp Book" by the Harzer Wandernadel, which includes stroller-friendly routes.
Once you have hiked all 16 routes and filled the booklet with stamps, you can reward yourself with the special hiking pin.

Directions
The hike starts directly at the Büchenberg parking lot. At first, walk the wide path towards Hartenberg and turn left after about 260 meters. This path leads to stamp point 37 and back to the main path. From here, you reach the village of Hartenberg, which you pass through. Then you arrive at the path of the German emperors and kings of the Middle Ages. Following this, carefully cross the street and after about 1.1 km reach a crossroads where you keep right on hiking path 17 D. After about 700 meters, turn left to reach stamp point 38 Galgenberg. Following the same path back, you reach the hiking path marked with a yellow triangle as an official hiking trail. This leads directly back to the starting point.
