Directions

From Ilsenburg we ride towards Stapelburg and shortly before it turn left towards Bad Harzburg. We pass the former border crossing Eckertal and follow the road. Shortly before Wolfstein, we turn right and proceed via Bettingerode, Halingerode, Göttingerode to Oker. In Oker, we follow the B498 into the Okertal. From here, it goes uphill to the Oker dam. Passing by the Oker reservoir, we ride to Altenau. In the town center, we keep left heading towards Torfhaus. Here, an 8.5 km climb with a constant 7-8% gradient awaits us to the highest point of the route. Once at the top, we follow the B4 to the right via Königskrug to Braunlage. Caution is advised on this section, especially on weekends, due to heavy traffic! In the town center of Braunlage, we turn left onto the B27 towards Elend. There we follow the signs via Drei Annen Hohne to Wernigerode. Now we just have to keep left on the main road to return via Darlingerode, Drübeck (passing by the Drübeck monastery) to Ilsenburg, back to the starting point.
