Directions

The starting point is the station in Ilsenburg. From here we follow Teichstraße and Harzburger Straße out of the town towards B6/Stapelburg. Upon reaching the B6, we follow the signs towards Bad Harzburg and cross the Green Belt for the first time near Stapelburg. Shortly before Ottenhai/Wolfstein, we turn right and travel via Bettingerode to Lochtum. In the town center, we turn sharply right onto Abbenröder Straße and shortly before leaving the town keep left towards B6. About 500 m after crossing the B6 overpass, we keep left and after crossing the railway track turn right onto Osterwiecker Straße. Between Wennerode and Lüttgenrode we cross the Green Belt a second time.

In this area, you can look for traces left and right of the path. However, there is little left to remind you that Germany was divided here for many decades.

In Stötterlingen we keep left towards Bühne, from where we reach Rhoden. Leaving Rhoden behind, we follow the signs to Osterode and Veltheim and finally the B79 to Hessen. At the entrance to Hessen, we turn right through Deersheim, Berssel, Odorf, Wasserleben, and Veckenstedt back to our starting point in Ilsenburg.
