Schäfertor-Heberkreuz-direction Trompeter-Clausberg-Beckersruh-Heberhöhenweg-Hebergatze-Schäfertor

The starting point is the Schäfertor (P) at the town exit towards Rhüden. According to information on a hiking signboard, we go uphill, on an asphalt road along the slope of the Heber, later a gravel path, to the forest edge before the “Trompeter”. Here we follow the trail marking southwest, turn north on a narrow hiking path at the forest corner of the “Clausberg” and soon reach the “Gerd Heine Weg”, which leads us through the “Heberberg Nature Reserve”. In the former quarries used for the construction of the monastery, there is a unique plant community to be seen. Past “Beckersruh” we continue along the Heber ridge, until a bench to the left where a decision must be made to either take the half-left path through the nature reserve or go straight along the bush edge. The latter path offers good views of Lamspringe. But both paths meet again, follow trail markings, and via the Hebergatze near the monastery complex at the foot, it goes back to the starting point.
