  • Start: Starting point in the center of Gandersheim, Stiftsfreiheit parking lot
  • Destination: Circular route with the option to use other entry and exit points as well.
The route leads through the villages located west of Bad Gandersheim to the half-timbered and beer town of Einbeck. The path runs almost exclusively on cycle paths, paved field and forest paths, and secondary roads.

At the starting point of the route you have the opportunity to experience the history of Gandersheim, e.g. with a walk through the old town, as a guest in the City Museum or with a visit to the Romanesque Collegiate Church with the exhibition “Rediscovering Treasures.”

The Greener Castle is also suitable for a stopover.

In Einbeck, we recommend a walk through the town or a visit to the RadHaus or the PS.Speicher.

Directions

We leave Bad Gandersheim via Neue Straße and the long-distance cycle path R1 towards Orxhausen. On the R1 (cycle path at the B 64) it continues to Kreiensen. To get to Greene, we leave the R1 cycle path, turn left in Kreiensen and then right at the next street. Continue straight through the Leine meadows and then over the Leine bridge. First right, and after about 300 m turn left. Then it goes uphill to the right behind the railway bridge. A detour to Greener Castle is worthwhile. After Einbeck, we follow the road downhill and turn left. Now a longer climb (about 600 m) must be mastered. Along the forest path until we reach a shelter. This offers a good place for a break before driving down to Einbeck. We take the left path, which we follow downhill to the right. Past some ponds it goes out of the forest, and a first overview of Einbeck opens up. We follow the road further downhill, then turn right and left into Teichenweg. This street leads to the city center. After crossing the railway line, we follow the street “Neuer Markt” to the market square (near the brewery entrance, Papenstraße 1). From the market square we drive to the right onto Altendorfer Str. To the left is our next destination. We can use the cycle path and turn left after the underpass to Salzderhelden. We pass through Salzderhelden, cross the Leine bridge and turn left at the first street to Rittierode. We continue on the country road via Olxheim to Haieshausen. Behind Haieshausen we turn left. Before the Leine bridge, the long-distance cycle path R1 branches off to the right. On this, we return via Kreiensen and Orxhausen to our starting point Bad Gandersheim.
