Directions
From Waldhaus Okertal on the B 498, you hike over the Adlerklippen, a limestone escarpment and mostly sunny climbing rocks, to the Verlobungsinsel with the stamp point no. 116 (Verlobungsinsel) of the Harzer Wandernadel. This very small river island in the upper course of the Oker lies between two massive granite blocks. You reach this romantic spot via a wooden bridge. At the same time, this is one of the most beautiful whitewater sections in Germany. Above the Verlobungsinsel lies Romkerhall, a popular excursion destination with a 65-meter-high artificial waterfall, the highest in the Harz. From Romkerhall you continue your way along the Alte Harzstraße, a former important traffic route in the Upper Harz, and return to the starting point, Waldhaus Okertal.
