Already at the starting point of the tour, you have the opportunity to experience the history of Gandersheim, for example during a walk through the old town, as a guest in the city museum, or when visiting the Romanesque collegiate church with the exhibition „Discovering treasures anew“. You should also plan a visit to the former Brunshausen monastery. It is worth seeing the founding place of the Gandersheim collegiate foundation and visiting the exhibitions of the portal to history as well as the local gastronomy there.
In Mechtshausen, the Wilhelm Busch House offers itself for a visit, and in the district of Clus, a Romanesque monastery church with a Gothic carved altar from the year 1487.

Directions
From the collegiate church, we head east, cross the traffic light intersection, and turn left behind the Roswitha Gymnasium. We are now on the Sculpture Bike Path, which we follow to the Brunshausen monastery. Here we leave the bike path and follow the R1 to Wolperode. Once there, we leave the town to the left and then turn right to Ackenhausen. We pass through the town and about 100 m behind the church turn right, up to the Heber ridge, then continue left along the edge of the forest and then up to the plateau. From there we ride downhill again to the next village, Bilderlahe. At the sports field turn left onto the country road, leave the town, and after about 1 km turn left to the Adenhausen settlement. It goes to the fork, where we continue right to Mechtshausen. Before the church, we then turn left again up to the Mechtshäuser Berg. We take the path on the right (steep climb!). At the top, we turn right and then straight out of the forest. From here, there is a beautiful view over the villages Gremsheim, Altgandersheim to Dankelsheim, our next targets. The road goes downhill and after about 500 m turn right, then we follow the road on to Gremsheim. We turn right and follow the road to Altgandersheim. We pass through the town westwards and encounter the country road to Lamspringe. After about 100 m, we turn left. We cross the Sculpture Path, go to the next intersection, and turn left to Dankelsheim. In town, pass the church on the right, continue to the town exit, then turn left to Clus.
From Clus, we ride on the district road to the Brunshausen monastery. On the adjacent Sculpture Path, we then return towards the city center.
