Directions

On this tour, we experience the diverse landscape of the Harz. The starting point of the tour is Schierke at the Brocken. Here, the Hotel Brockenscheideck offers a wonderful overnight option. Centrally located in the Harz and so close to the Brocken, nature lovers will fully enjoy it.
The hotel scores with a typical Harz ambiance. From the rooms, visitors have a great view of Schierke and the surrounding forests. Here we start towards Braunlage and finally arrive in Braunlage passing by Puppe’s Specialties. The delicatessen directly at the main intersection offers a variety of Harz specialties and invites you to taste them in its cozy parlor. Various souvenirs from the Harz vacation can also be purchased here. We continue through Altenau and soon see the Oker Dam – a popular spot for photo stops. Further north, a next stop can be made at the Romkerhaller Waterfall, just before Goslar. The waterfall is easily reachable on foot from the nearby parking lot in a short time.
Goslar itself, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also worth a visit! The historic old town with its half-timbered houses is a real eye-catcher. The tour continues to Ilsenburg and from there to Wernigerode. Following the B244, we head towards the Rappbode Dam. But before that, a small detour to the Blue Lake is worthwhile. For this, in Rübeland, the road along the B27 towards Blankenburg is followed for a few kilometers until turning into a parking lot on the left. From there, the lake can be easily reached on foot within a few minutes.

From Rübeland, we drive through the Bode Valley to Thale. High above the town stands the Hexentanzplatz. Those who wish can take the cable car up. The view from the cabins with glass bottoms is unique. The Hexentanzplatz can also be reached by motorcycle. Once at the top, there is a great view over Thale. Our tour leads along beautiful forests through Friedrichsbrunn and Güntersberge into the upper Selke valley. Passing by »Harzer Spezialitäten Kather«. The snack bar with hearty food from the goulash cannon is located on the B242 a few kilometers behind Alexisbad. In Alexisbad, the double turnout of the Harz narrow-gauge railways is a popular photo motif. In good weather, many guests can be found there. Via Güntersberge, Hasselfelde, Sorge, and Elend, after a charming round through the landscape of the Upper Harz, we return to the starting point in Schierke.
