The Wolfswarte is located near the summit of the Bruchberg, which can be reached from Altenau via a round trip of about 15 km. Situated in the middle of the national park, there is the treeless elevation "Wolfswarte", from which you can enjoy a wide view over Altenau and the Upper Harz mountains. With about 927 meters above sea level, the Bruchberg with the Wolfswarte is the second highest mountain in Lower Saxony.

The summit tour starts at the Okerteich and initially leads to the Dammgraben, along which the path, which is also part of the Harz Witches' Trail, follows up to the Förster-Ludwig-Platz. The ascent to the Wolfswarte takes place via the Butterstieg. The descent takes the other side of the Bruchberg and follows the Gustav-Baumann-Weg back to Altenau.
