This is the track for the short distance of the Trails4Germany run in Bad Grund on October 17, 2021.

On October 17, Bad Grund presents itself as a new location for Trails4Germany.

It is a great route, passing witnesses of mining art and world cultural heritage, following the footsteps of witches, kings, and ghosts through the mystically autumnal Harz landscape. Some highlights of this stage are the path into the World Forest, where trees from all over the world are native and shine in the Indian Summer during autumn, as well as the narrow trails in the deep dark Harz forest that lead to the ruins of the former Silbernaal mine through the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Harz Water Management System.

Directions

The start of both the short and long distance is at the sports park Teufelstal, in Bad Grund. Slightly ascending, they follow the Teufelstal to the Eisenstein tunnel. The path then turns sharply right above the mining town through the so-called Paradise until crossing the main road.

Here, the paths of the two runs split.

The short distance then continues directly to the Waldwinkel, from where it proceeds together again, descending the Kuhtrift into town and past the Knesebeck shaft up again to Fritzes Ruh. The routes continue following the path of the Dwarf King Hübich to the Squirrel Square in the Eichelbach valley. Here the main road is crossed again, and there is another refreshment station expected at 15.5 km (short distance 5.5 km). The route now leads uphill to Knollen to the Green Fir, above the Kelchtal, on the horizontal path. From here, the path leads into the World Forest, which is home to trees from all over the world and shines in the Indian Summer in autumn. From afar, you can already see the millions-of-years-old coral reef of the Hübichenstein, where witches and devils meet on Walpurgis Night to fly together to the Brocken. The finale leads past the Iberg and with full speed back into the Teufelstal where the witches are waiting to start a finisher’s dance with you.
