The 5 km long route starts at the Schultal parking lot in the center of Altenau.

Opposite the parking lot is the turnoff to the street "An der Bornkappe." Walk about 50 m uphill on this street and then turn left onto the forest road, the "Wellner Weg." Follow the "Wellner Weg" for about 1.5 km. Then turn left and walk 1.8 km along the clearing. You will come to a crossroads and keep left here. After about 1 km you will reach Hüttestraße. Walk up Hüttestraße to the town center (roundabout). Turning right, you reach the Schultal parking lot.
