- Destination: Polsterberger Hubhaus
This circular route is 3.3 kilometers long and goes around the Polsterberger Hubhaus. On your hike, you will learn about a part of the Upper Harz Water Management, which has belonged to the UNESCO World Heritage in the Harz since 2010.
The water from the ponds was brought by ditches to the waterwheels in the mines. The generated hydropower was needed to bring the ores mined underground up to the surface.
In the mines, rainwater also repeatedly seeped in. With the help of the waterwheels, the seeping water was pumped out of the mine.
The circular route has a total of 12 stations. There you will be explained how the water was led here through ditches from the moors in the High Harz. It was then pumped 18 meters up the mountain at the Polsterberger Hubhaus. There it was stored in the reservoir ponds at the top of the mountain near Clausthal.
On your hike, also discover the old, brick waterwheel chambers. The waterwheels in the chambers used to drive the pumps in the Hubhaus.
A special highlight of the hike is the Polstertaler Pond. Here you can take a small break and enjoy the peace.

Directions
From the car park at the Polsterberger Hubhaus, the path leads to the dam ditch. From there, it goes left to Reinecke Square. Shortly after the square, the path turns right onto a narrow hiking trail down into the Polster valley.
You pass 2 waterwheel chambers belonging to the Polsterberger Hubhaus. At the lower waterwheel chamber, you reach a forest road. There, continue straight ahead to the Polstertaler Pond. Turn right and walk over the pond dam.
Behind the small bridge, the path turns right and runs along the pond. At the end, the narrow path reconnects to the forest road.
Walk slightly uphill on the forest road to the dam ditch. Cross the dam ditch and then walk right along the ditch. Continue along the dam ditch until you return to the Polsterberger Hubhaus.
The path can be walked in both directions.
