On the World Heritage route in the Harz, you embark on an exciting discovery trip through one of the most important and oldest mining regions in Europe.
The World Heritage info centers in Goslar and Walkenried are good starting and ending points. In between, you can visit 20 sights.
The World Heritage route between Goslar and Walkenried is approximately 73 kilometers long. From Clausthal-Zellerfeld, you can take a 12-kilometer detour to Bad Grund.
Along the entire route, several exciting museums await you. For example, the Rammelsberg Mine, the Imperial Palace in Goslar, the Upper Harz Mining Museum in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, or the Cistercian Museum at Walkenried Abbey.
There are also public visitor parking lots along the route. From there, you can hike to various monuments of the Upper Harz Water Management system.
