Between Heaven and Hell
The Walkenried cloister is rightly considered one of the most beautiful in northern Germany. The wealth of motifs in its architectural decoration is particularly fascinating. Faces and leaf masks, animals and mythical creatures as well as all kinds of plant decorations can be found on consoles, keystones and capitals. All of these depictions are imbued with a sacred symbolism that moves between salvation and disaster, heaven and cave. Stroll with us through the richly decorated cloister and get to know the mysterious imagery of the Middle Ages. A special experience with a cozy conclusion with a piece of cake and a cup of coffee in the KlosterCafé.
