Living mining culture for adults and children
The old handicraft art of "lace-making" has been practiced in the Harz Mountains since the 16th century by the women and children of miners as a sideline.

Bobbins are spindle-shaped "bobbins", usually made of wood. With the help of these bobbins and the yarn wound onto them, various types of lace are made, i.e. "bobbin lace". This filigree lace could eventually be sold and the handicraft helped the poor miners' families to earn a living. To ensure that this unusual handicraft technique does not die out in the Harz Mountains, Ms. Angelika Kiebach from the Harzklub has decided to introduce laypeople to lace-making. With a lot of patience and love, she demonstrates the crossing and twisting of the bobbins and the work on the bobbin lace cushion in small, simple steps. In the workshop, you start with a small and easy product and then slowly increase the level of difficulty to a somewhat more complicated workpiece. At the end of the short course, it is even possible to obtain a "bobbin lace diploma", even if this is not an official award, but just a nice souvenir of a special weekend. But of course, Ms. Kiebach is also willing to support advanced lace makers in their work.

The course is suitable for adults and children (from 4th grade accompanied by an adult), costs: 59€, additional10 € material costs directly to Ms. Kiebach, please have them ready at the beginning of the course.
